My family just spent a week in Cape Cod. For many many years we would go up there every summer, but we took a break when life got really busy. This year was our first year back. And I think we all fell right back in love.
Coming home was really hard on all of us. We brought back small mementos, but it wasn’t enough. So we decided to do some fixes that brought the Cape into our home.
We decided to take the old dark stained wood and molding in our foyer and paint them all white. We had previously done the dining room beams and ceiling, but couldn’t decide on the foyer until vacation. It was touch and go for a little bit because we weren’t sure we liked it, and once you start you really can’t go back. So we (my mother did most of the work- she’s a perfectionist) primed and painted and the end result was much better then we though. It made the entire room brighter and open. I never knew how much light actually comes into the room, until now.
