Fall is our favorite time of year and now that we have our little one year old we have been so excited to really enjoy all these fun activities. Especially compared to last year when we had a newborn and were fighting sleep deprivation. With our crazy schedules and constant balancing act, I didn’t know where we were gonna fit any of it in. Lately we don’t have much time in the day as a family. Most days Alex and I are running out the door to go to work as the other comes home from work. Usually the only time the three of us are together is bedtime or when I have a client cancel or Alex’s classes get cancelled.
This week we had a rare day where I wasn’t working, so we were able to spend quality time together. We decided to take advantage of this opportunity and the gorgeous weather, and went apple picking.
We went to Windy Brow Farms in Fredon, NJ. During the week Pick Your Own closes at 4 PM, so arriving at 3 meant we had the place to ourselves.
It was perfect. Honestly just perfect. We had the place to ourselves and it was almost magical. The PYO section of the farm is on a hill and the sun was setting over it. It kept us warm in the crisp fall air.
To say Madeline loved it would be an understatement. She had been sick this past week so we have been cooped up inside, so it was like this nice to be in the fresh air and just able to roam around. She was a crawling from row of trees to the next, picking up apples, and saying “what’s that?” in her little toddler language. And the apples were also delicious according to a certain one year old.
Plus she looked super cute and honestly totally bad ass in her Gios Tiny Shop distressed jean jacket, sunglasses, and Potato Feet Mocc-Hiato moccasins. Her Potato Feet moccasins are my favorite fall accessory.
It was so nice just being the three of us, relaxing, and doing something we can’t always do. Plus Madeline just really did look so cool and tough!
Windy Brown has so many other goodies besides apples!! PIES, PIES, and PIES!! My family has been getting their holiday pies there for years (we may have bought one just because while there). They have organic meats, apple cider, locally grown and made tomato sauce, and donuts. Plus they have an ice cream selection, including seasonal favorite and flavors like lavender vanilla! Everything is local and fresh, so if your local to New Jersey it is definitely a must visit.
It was the perfect fall day, can’t wait for the rest of the season.
